Hairspiration: SLAY Festival

Hair inspiration from SLAY Festival- Nappy Haired Wigs
L: Alex (Nappy Haired)
Last Saturday, I was at She Leads Africa (SLA)’s Slay Festival. After my last SLA event (SheHive Lagos), I shared some of the lovely hair inspiration, and 15 valuable lessons to help you in your career & business. How about we start your week with another hairspiration post?

This time, I wasn’t really at the festival proper. I was working (kind of), with my work fam as consultants in the SME Corner. Before you ask “What? You have a job?” as a few people have lol, I WISH this blog paid my bills you guys, but as of now, it does not. Keep us in your prayers- or better yet, contact us if you’d like to get your business to our lovely readers!

Anyhooo. It was really nice to talk to people about their businesses, and advise them on legal issues. After we were done, I hung around for a bit and creeped some people out with my camera, jk jk. I also got to catch the end of Funbi’s performance (get familiar with him on his Soundcloud here) and all of Falana’s. She’s amazing. I shared bits on Instagram stories. If you aren’t following us on Insta @thekinkandi, you’re missing out! :p

Loveeeeee. Never wanted cowries in my hair, ever. Not even when Solange did it. I’m a changed woman now, thanks to her.
Someone said you’re supposed to have 3 hobbies- one to pay the bills, one to keep you fit and one to keep you creative. I’m not good at it right now, but I’m taking on photography as hobby #3.  I am pretty happy about these photos. Saturday was one of my favourite days yet, with my camera Lolia. I think it was the abundance of beauty I was surrounded by.

So. What do you say, guys? Shall we make this a thing? Not event recap posts, but hair recaps? I don’t go out THAT much, but when I do, my eyes are always out for the hair.

I know you guys outgrew our traditional Hairspiration posts, so let me know if you want to see more of this? Holler in the comments!

  1. I LOVE THIS. It is my dream to go to a festival like this one day. There aren’t enough black people in my area, and I get so jealous of people coming together as a community like this! So beautiful!

  2. How come I didn’t run into you 😞. I love your pictures, so cool. I just did the “2” weave and that’s all, I really should start playing with my hair with all these inspirational pictures.

  3. I was also at slay festival but I couldn’t get a ticket because They were all sold out but standing outside and seeing people’s attire and hair attitude is something I can’t forget. The sights were more than beautiful there and the I officially thought I need a real camera for days like this.please I would totally love to see all you got both more pictures and business tips.
